The elevator broke again sometime during the day. I had to carry my bike up to the top floor. It's good exercise. As outlined in my "what's wrong with the apt" post, I sent maintenance a letter. I've yet to get my phone call. Anyway.
Update: Took less than a day to get it up and running this time.

I'm not really sure how much you've actually bugged them about your problems. I agree that you shouldn't have to constantly repeat yourself but they obviously can't get their act together. And it may sound childish but desperate times call for desperate measures so here is what I would do:
Although I'm sure you're busy during the day, try your best to call them every hour every day. And just say: "this is so-and-so, did you fix my problems yet?" And just keep asking that over and over again. Leave messages if no answer. They will get annoyed either way and this might work.
If not, go to the maintenance office and stand there and repeat over and over "can you fix my stuff now? I think I've waited long enough." Be a broken record, lay on the floor, be annoying.
If they throw you out, stake out the leasing office to see the busiest time of the day on Sunday open house. Go on in and say loudly, "Can I have everyone's attention? I've lived here for a month and I have the following problems with my apt that are being ignored..." This should embarrass them into fixing it.
The answer to your previous question about where I was moving: I am moving to Flatbush Grdns b/c I really need my own place and it's the only thing I can afford with as much space as I need. I think I may be heading down a similar road as your beginning though b/c I made an appointment to pick out a place and tried to tell them beforehand the specifics of what I wanted so they would be prepared when I came. But of course they didn't want to listen to me and all they had to show me was exactly what I didn't want, 6th floor in the bldgs farthest from the train. So I was pretty annoyed that I had to take a 1/2 day off of work to waste a trip there. They said they would make an exception and show me some on a Sunday but I don't know if I believe it.
Oh, you're absolutely right, I've not bugged them at all... Honestly, the only thing I really cared about was the fact the tub didn't drain, and they fixed that right away with flying colors. The rest of the stuff... I've either fixed it myself, plan on fixing it myself, or just don't care that much.
The sum of what I've done to complain is in the post. I work A LOT, and don't have time to call every hour, or go down there during the week. Though I think those are all great suggestions. The only idea along those same lines I had, was to write a letter, that essentially said "I know I can't force you to make the repairs you are obligated to make, so instead of turning off my A/C units during the day, I'm going to run them full blast 24/7. When it gets too cold, I'll open a window, turn on my space heater, and/or oven. In the winter, I'll install them backwards and run them 24/7 year round until you fix my problems." Though that's not very good for the environment, I would find it hilarious.
It's a good place, they're just busy. I recommend paying your $500 deposit but not signing the lease or paying the balance until you've inspected/approved of the final work. I think if you have time to annoy them with a mere fraction of your posted ideas, you'll be very happy here.
They're always sellin' those places farthest from the subway. I went in 2 of them for the ex-roommate, and they are nice/bigger... but I love being so close to the subway. I'm kinda lazy.
Let me know how it goes.
