So, this one was worth a picture. Someone on the fifth floor totally busted the elevator door.

Im interested in moving to flatbush gardens, my question is how is the roach and/or rodent problem there? BTW.. I appreciate everything you blog. It is really informative. thanks!
Thanks; I live to serve.
That's an excellent question. Very important information. They clearly have taken some effort toward the issue. I live on a higher floor, so my probability for rodents is lower (but they climb, so not too low). I have not seen any rodents anywhere, and certainly not in my apartment. I have had probably one fly per week, and one other bug per week (one was a millipede type bug and the rest may be of a roach variety but much much smaller than the giant roaches I'm used to from Florida). So, there are a few bugs, but keep in mind two things: (1) there is an exterminator (free I think) during good parts of the day (schedule posted in each building for that building, I think), who I have not requested yet, and (2) I am not the cleanest person, in that I don't wash dishes every day and I don't take the trash out often (as I don't produce much trash/dirty-dishes). So, with the low bug population, calls to the exterminator when needed, and/or a more vigilant removal of food particles from your apartment... I think they're doing ok. At least in my apt. It's not bug proof, but might be able to be made bug free, but so far rodent free, and that's my main concern.
Thanks again for your informative answers !!
Ok so about this exterminator you speak so highly of: Today I asked to have him/her come before move in day. And the always wonderful and cheery Zach (that's sarcastic in case you didn't know) from the leasing office tells me that they don't have an exterminator and I have to hire one myself. A bunch of BS or did they change their policies?
